There's no question that The Lion King story is one that resonates with people in multiple different ways. Sure, the 1994 animated film was meant for kids, but it's a sad story to say the least. It takes a prodigal son style of path that has kept audience members in theaters at the edge of their seats as they watch the story unfold since 1997. These are mostly people who already know the story! It's amazing to think that the Lion King continues to sell out performs on Broadway and across the world even though most people know what's going to happen on stage. That's exactly what's going to happen in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday 27th July 2025.
One of the things that keeps people coming back to this performance are the tracks. It's a pretty deep soundtrack with songs about life, loss, and of course, Hakuna Matata. The current cast provides amazing renditions of these anthems that folks love. At the same time, the music helps move the story along in this theater version in a way that keeps people engaged.
