The play's storyline itself is a fresh retelling of the 2001 film following Christian and Satine, an American composer moves to Montmartre to jumpstart his career as a writer and composer, and a star performer in the Moulin Rouge nightclub, respectively. Christian and Satine fall madly in love as they become more acquainted with each other, and it is in their dalliance that they go back and forth as they try to unsuccessfully stop themselves, though fate continues to bring them closer together.

In the running time of 2 hours and 45 minutes of the entire musical, this story is shared mostly through song and dance, with unsurpassed musical scoring from the production, which is a blend of mash-ups, medleys, and even classical numbers. Manchester Media Group reported that the musical is “an experience for the senses as soon as you arrive.” From the 19th century set to the modern pop numbers, the musical’s brilliance is very evident; consider the fact that even the cast members are composed of singer superstars such as Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivo leading the roles of Christian and Satine and you have another Broadway gem on your hands.
