Les Miserables at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium Tickets

Happening largely in the time span preceding and during the 1832 French rebellion in France, the musical, Les Misérables is the story of Jean Valjean, a local of Paris who was pronounced guilty for almost two decades due to stealing a loaf of bread for his nephew. After his release on parole, he breaks free and seeks a new life free from the law; Jean Valjean then takes on a different identity as Monsieur Madeleine, while still constantly being pursued by his nemesis, Javert, an officer loyal to the letter of the law and determined to catch and bring Valjean back to prison.

Transpiring over a span of approximately two decades covered by the show's 2-hour and 50-minute run, Jean Valjean is intertwined in one way or another with a few main figures in every part of the show – Fantine is one of his factory laborers who mothers an illegitimate infant; Cosette is the adoptive baby of Monsieur Madeleine, who turns out to be Fantine’s daughter; Marius, a young Frenchman on the side of the revolt and the love interest of Cosette. Side roles seen in the musical consist of the Thénardiers, immoral innkeepers who think only of themselves and are obsessed with taking advantage of the chaos; Eponine, their child, who harbors a secret love for for Marius; and comrades of the rebellion specifically Gavroche, a small but cunning child, and the revolt’s charismatic leader, Enjolras.

This vibrant group of characters who are part of one struggle and their individual stories are brought to life on a live platform, not just with the show's 19th century French-based outfit and set design, but distinctly with Les Mis being sung-through fully from beginning to end. With famous songs including “I Dreamed a Dream” and “One Day More” as part of its astounding musical score, the heart-stopping show is able to communicate the underlying motives beneath every character that plays out beautifully in each performance.

Les Misérables’ next stage will be in the beloved Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, running for a limited season on Friday 13th March 2026.
